2015 Chicago Festivals: 57th Annual Chicago Air and Water Show
Each year, the Chicago Air and Water Show draws more than a million people to the lakefront at North Avenue Beach on the Near North Side of the city. The festival is well worth winding your way through crowds, with unforgettable sights and incredible scenes unfolding in the summer sky. Check out the water and aerial activities scheduled throughout the day on August 15 and 16 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
With amusements for all ages, you can plan the perfect family getaway with the lightning-fast jets whizzing all around where sky and sea meet. Start a new tradition with your family or keep coming back for this free event that has helped shape Chicago as a unique and awe-inspiring city. See the famous Blue Angels of the U.S. Navy streak across the lakefront, disappearing into the majestic city skyline of Chicago. Bask in the cool breeze coming off of Lake Michigan, soak up the sun, and enjoy two full days of family fun with no cost for admission. Both civilian and military aviators show off their skills, including the memorable maneuvering of the Air Force's Thunderbirds. You can bring a chair, towel, sunscreen, and an umbrella - just as you would spending any day enjoying fun in the sun at the beach. Just be sure to come early to get a good spot, and bring your camera to snap a photo as the jets soar between the buildings.
