Chicago Blackhawks Home Opener: October 11, 2014Chicago Blackhawks Home Opener
October 11, 2014
@ The United Center
The fall season means the return of pumpkin flavors, approaching holidays and festive Halloween haunts. For sports fans, this time of year also means NHL hockey is almost here. If you cheer for the Chicago Blackhawks, you can grab your tickets to see the team square off against the Buffalo Sabres on October 11. As the fans cheer from the arena, "Here Come The Hawks!"
Since this home opener starts Chicago's NHL regular season, this important game can set the tone for how the team will play this year. With five Stanley Cups under its belt, this ice hockey club has already established its solid reputation. The Blackhawks attained this crowning victory in 2010, ending an almost four decade drought. In the 2012-2013 season, the club took the title again and brought the glory back to Chicago after defeating the Bruins.
The Blackhawks are a member of the Central Division of the West Conference and are an "Original Six" team. (The other five are the Detroit Red Wings, Montreal Canadiens, Toronto Maple Leafs, Boston Bruins and New York Rangers.)
The team has been playing at United Center since 1994, a move away from Chicago Stadium. Here's a more complete schedule of Blackhawks games at home this fall:
