Chicago Comic & Entertainment ExpoThose in the know refer to it as C2E2. But for those of us not in the know, it's called the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo. Taking place at McCormick Place from April 25-27, 2014, the annual convention covers the world of comics, television, movies, anime, toys, video games and manga. Produced by ReedPOP, C2E2 features more than 300 exhibitors, an array of panels, and a plethora of autograph sessions where diehard fans can meet the creators they admire. Comic guests include Stan Lee, creator of Spider-Man, Hilary Barta of "The Simpsons" and Allison Sohn of Women of Marvel sketch cards fame. There are also entertainment guests, which range from Alfie Allen from "Game of Thrones" and Crystal Reed from "Teen Wolf" to James Morrison from "24" and Jaime Murray from "Defiance." As for literary guests, those in attendance will be Chloe Neill of "Chicagoland Vampires," E.C. Blake of "Masks" and Seth Fishman of "The Well's End."
The Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo will also feature screening rooms that offer sneak previews of upcoming TV shows and films before they're released to the general public. Another popular facet of the weekend event is the Charity Art Auction. Held on Saturday, April 26 at 7:30 p.m., the auction will be showcasing more than 50 pieces of original art. Proceeds will benefit St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. Something new this year is the C2E2 Fan Village where friends can hang, play games, and chat about what's hot and what's not in the fickle and frenetic world of pop culture.
