Lollapalooza 2014 - 3-Day Annual Chicago Music Festival in Grant ParkLollapalooza 2014
Grant Park, Chicago
The big kahuna of music festivals, Lollapalooza returns to Chicago this August. The line-up is completely A-list, including headliners Skrillex, Eminem, Arctic Monkeys, Kings of Leon, Outkast, Lorde, Iggy Azalea and Foster the People. Gates open at 11 a.m., and the festival ends each day at 10 p.m. Be sure to bring plenty of sun screen (except make sure it's not in an aerosol can-those are a big no-no at Lolla). A hat and sunglasses wouldn't hurt either. It's OK to bring binoculars, picnic blankets, soft-sided coolers, walkie-talkies, and baby strollers-because tots like to rock out, too.
Lollapalooza is more than music. You can purchase food at Chow Town food vendors, which will have yummy drinks and food like burgers, pizza, Thai cuisine, and ribs. Across from Chow Town, visit the Farmers Market for something tasty and healthy. Green Street is where you'll find boho sundries like hats, T-shirts and jewelry. For those with children, Kidzapalooza is for the 10 and under set, and includes live bands and activities, like a hip-hop workshop.
If you're got tickets, be very happy because regular 1-day and 3-day passes have already sold out. Don't have tickets yet? Don't be discouraged. If you're a die-hard Lolla fan and you simply must be there, the Lollapalooza Platinum Pass is truly awesome. It includes exclusive access to Platinum Hospitality Areas with the A/C cranked. You also get complimentary catered meals and beverages-yes, that includes bar drinks. Enjoy transport via golf cart, VIP Lolla Lounge areas, the Artist Lounge areas, special restrooms, concierge service, and goody bags. The price? $3,600. You can also check out travel packages, which run from $1,800 to over $4,600.
