The official illumination takes place at 5 p.m., but come at 4:30 for all the sights, sounds, and scenes of the season. Make your way to Daley Plaza on November 25th, a well-known spot that houses the famous 50-foot Picasso sculpture.
Locals and visitors alike attend this highly anticipated event, a deeply rooted tradition now in its 101st year. For more than a century, the tree lighting ceremony signifies the start of the Christmas season. Along the downtown Loop, listen to live performances and familiar holiday tunes - the perfect soundtrack for this festive celebration.

Dee Snider, front man for the classic rock band Twisted Sister, will headline this year's festivities. Performing a medley from Broadway in Chicago's Dee Snider's Rock & Roll Christmas Tale, the legendary rocker will play a set from his smash-hit show.

Hansel and Gretel will perform a number from the modern family rock musical, Hansel & Gretel: A Wickedly Delicious Musical presented by Emerald City Theatre. Tony Award® winner Shuler Hensley, who appears in Dr. Seuss' How The Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical, is sure to be a show-stealer.
