Pitchfork Music Festival In ChicagoYou haven't really lived until you've experienced the Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago's Union Park. Taking place Friday, July 18 through Sunday, July 20, 2014, the three-day event features an extremely eclectic collection of performers. More than 40 bands will be on-hand to introduce you to what's happening in the world of new as well as emerging music. In existence since 2006, the festival is known for its welcoming and comfortable atmosphere along with its very reasonable prices. Along with spectacular entertainment, you'll be treated to a wealth of Chicago-based retail and food vendors, including Futurgarb, Fyunk, Enlighten Clothing Company, Ornamental Things, Greenola Style, Coco Loco, Goose Island Brew Pub, Big Delicious Planet, Chubby Wieners, Puffs of Doom, Robinsons Ribs, Wishbone and Dark Matter Coffee.
Here are some of the performers you'll see on Friday, July 18: Beck; Giorgio Moroder, a disco pioneer of the 1970s and a Grammy winner for his work on Daft Punk's Random Access Memories; and Avey Tare's Slasher Flicks, the side project of Animal Collective. On Saturday, July 19, you'll enjoy everyone from indie rock band Neutral Milk Hotel and their signature lo-fi sound to FKA Twigs, a London-based singer who will remind you of trip-hip icons Massive Attack and Portishead. And finally, Sunday, July 20 will feature hip-hop star Kendrick Lamar; Grimes, aka Claire Boucher, a singer-songwriter from Canada; and Slowdive whose English dream pop sound has been around since 1989.
