The official running season in Chicago begins on March 30, 2014 in Grant Park. That's the day of the annual Shamrock Shuffle, an 8K run that will take participants 8 years old and up along parts of the same route followed in the Chicago Marathon.

St. Patrick's Day in Chicago begins with the dyeing of the Chicago River green at 10:00 a.m. No one knows what's added to the river but it's not toxic in the least. Two hours later at noon, the annual parade will make its way up Columbus Drive.
